As we’ve recently had quite a few new requests about the dog park club, I wanted to provide a brief summary of what we currently do as a club for the park. In general, we meet once a month at the dog park to do trash pickup mainly along the fence line and on the outside of the park in between the hedges and fence.
The Avalon Park HOA has become much more involved with the park maintenance that we used to perform like mulch replacement and fence repairs – thank you from the club. We feel that we've succeeded in one of the primary goals after creating the club in the fall of 2006 of keeping the park from being closed, as was the proposal after being open only a year. This is a credit to each dog owner, park visitor, and club volunteer – thank you from us.
If you hadn't seen our pick up schedule, it is always the third Saturday of each month from 9:00 until 10:00.

The other items we created the club to do were for bigger maintenance projects and possibly dog-type events. We've had professional proposals for installing both a water line and a tent, but both were well over $5,000 each. We'd like some of our members to take some leadership and create fundraising accounts to help get these things installed, so we hope you can help here too!
Finally, as this season of our club narrows to an end, I’d like to propose that someone come forward to guide this club into the future. My wife and I have had a great time getting to know everyone whether it be at the park with dogs, doing monthly clean-ups, building the mulch pit last February, or hanging out at Barnie’s. However, our time commitments are not what they used to be and I know many of you would like to do much more than we have been able to do for the club and the park. We’ll see you on Saturday
